Technical information about galvanising
For a good result, the materials must satisfy a number of conditions:
- the steel quality must be right: see NEN-EN-ISO-1461.
- inlet and outlet holes must have been made in the correct manner.
- materials must be free of impurities, with the exception of rust and mill scale, that cannot be removed by chemical pretreatment.
That means materials must be free of:
- paint and/or varnish (or traces);
- welding sprays that contain silicone;
- welding slag;
- oil and/or grease layers;
- marks with pastel crayon, paint or inappropriate markers;
- adhesives, glues, stickers etc.
When the materials are presented for the Duplex system and for powder coating after galvanisation, they must also meet specific requirements.
